Sunday 30th June will be Glynis and Ron’s final Sunday in the parishes before retirement.
There will be two services for the whole Benefice at St. Mary’s Church, East Leake on that day, and all are welcome, including children, to attend either or both of these services.
The first service will be Parish Communion at 9.30am.
At 4pm that afternoon there will be an informal service for all ages, and after that everyone will be invited to the Rectory garden for a barbeque. We hope to start serving food from 5.30pm.
ARRANGEMENTS DURING THE VACANCY
People
are asking what will happen in our parishes during the forthcoming
vacancy. The staff team will, of course,
become even smaller. However, the
remaining members of that team are committed to ensuring continuity of worship
wherever possible.
The present pattern
of services usually includes three services per month in the smaller villages,
and a 9.30am service each week at East Leake, with other services on some
Sundays.
However (as in other years) there are likely
to be fewer services during August. There will be some contingency plans in
case of illness or other unforeseen circumstances. Pastoral ministry and funeral services will
be covered by other ministers on our team.
The parish office will
continue to be run from East Leake Rectory during the vacancy and Caroline will
pick up messages and deal with various administrative tasks.
We already have
many committed members of our churches who are involved in caring for our
buildings, preparing for Sunday worship and all manner of other tasks, so these
things can carry on as normal.
In
respect of those tasks normally undertaken by the Rector, Glynis is preparing
notes for guidance.
Everyone is hoping
and praying that the right appointment will be made sooner rather than later,
but in the meantime, if people work together and support one another, there is
no reason why everything should not run smoothly during the vacancy.
