Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

This weekend is an extended Bank Holiday weekend for everyone to celebrate our Queen's Diamond Jubilee. She is an amazing lady to have reigned for 60 years and still dedicates her life to her country, for which we are truly thankful.

A brief list of what's happening is as follows:

Sun. 3rd June: The Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant.  This begins at approx. 2.30pm when the Queen embarks the Royal Barge.

Mon. 4th June, 7.30pm: Televised BBC Concert at Buckingham Palace.

Mon. 4th June, 10.00pm onwards: The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons will be lit across the country.

Tues. 5th June.10.15am-3.30pm. The Queen leaves Buckingham Palace for a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral, followed by a carriage procession ending at Buckingham Palace where the Queen will appear on the balcony.

Service on Sunday 3rd June at 9.30am. St Mary's Church welcomes to our morning service.
Messy Church will again be held for all young families at 4.00pm.

St Mary's is celebrating the Jubilee by holding a Garden Party in the Rectory Garden on Tuesday, 5th June, 12.00-4.00pm for all its members, friends and family.  If you don't have your ticket by now, be quick because they've almost all gone!  Contact Rosemary on 856202.

The Bishop's Prayer Walk.


Friday, 25th May.  Bishop Paul visits The Vineyard at Costock.  A small group accompanied him after his visit to Lantern Lane School, walking across the fields in the sunshine to the Vineyard.  The group were treated to a tour of the vineyard and the processing area, followed by refreshments including a taste of their wonderful wine.

Today, he is visiting Stanford, Normanton, Sutton Bonington, Kingston, Ratcliffe, Thrumpton & Barton 

We look forward to him visiting West Leake and East Leake followed by family picnic lunch at Rushcliffe Country Park on Sunday.

Bishop Paul Butler's visit to our area!

This Sunday, 27th May, 9.30am Bishop Paul Butler will be visiting St Mary's Church, having walked from West Leake earlier in the morning. Why not come along and meet him at our Service!

After the Service we are making our way to a Deanery Picnic, 12.30pm onwards, which is open to absolutely EVERYONE. Bring your picnic and enjoy the day at Ruddington Country Park.

Confirmation! A Confirmation Service will be held that evening at St Giles Church, West Bridgford at 7.00pm.  Come along and support the young people taking part.
